A Content Management System, also called a Web management system is software or a group or suite of applications and tools that enable an organization to seamlessly create, edit, review and publish electronic text. Many content management systems offer a Web-based Graphical User Interface, enabling publishers to access the CMS online using only a Web browser.
A CMS will provide options and features to index and search documents and also specify keywords and other metadata for search engine crawlers. There will also be the ability to publish (show) and unpublish documents based upon their validity date, whether the viewer is logged in or not,
Increasingly nowadays, a CMS will form the backbone of a complete web site. The individual pages are articles or groups of articles and the system may be supplemented by 'add-ons' which provide additional content : e-commerce, photo libraries, membership management - the range of supplementary code is virtually unlimited.
This web site is based on the Joomla! Content Management System.
